Does Singaporeans Need Visa to Vietnam?

For Singaporean tourists who will have an upcoming trip to Vietnam, they may consider if Vietnam visa is needed for Singaporean. Fortunately, a Vietnam tourist visa is not required for Singaporeans for their stay of up to 30 days in Vietnam. It is fine to go if the term of your stay in Vietnam is just 30 days at maximum.

In case you wish to stay in Vietnam for more than 30 days, please apply for a tourist visa with extended duration of stay. Getting a Vietnam visa for Singaporean have been made much easier these days as there are two different ways: applying visa on arrival or at Vietnam embassies.

For the former kind, the Vietnam Immigration Department will issue a visa approval letter with your name on it stating that you are allowed to enter Vietnam on a specified date. After that, you will have the visa stamped onto your passport at the arrival airport. If you apply for visa at Vietnam embassies, the visa stamp will be on your passport when they send it back to you. You can refer a step – by – step guidance to apply for visa here: https://www.vietnam-visa.com. You can refer the specific steps below:

  • Firstly, Access to https://booking.vietnam-visa.com/step1.html, and complete the form here (no document is required);
  • Then, review to make sure all information is correct, and make payment of service fee online;
  • After that, wait for 2 working days (for normal service to get tourist visa) to get visa approval letter delivered to email together with detailed guide to pick up full visa upon arrival at Vietnam airport;
  • Finally, get visa stamped upon original passport at Vietnam arrival airport

For Visa at Vietnam Embassy, there are the typical procedure and documents to obtain Vietnam visa in person at Vietnam embassy, with the processing time for 1 visa is normally 4 – 5 working days:

  • Firstly, download the application form on embassy website, fill it out and attached it with a photo;
  • Prepare all necessary documents including application form, original passport, photos and visa fee and others as required by the Embassy;
  • Drop by the Embassy to submit application documents and pay for visa fee;
  • After that, get Appointment Letter;
  • Finally, travel back to the embassy on the appointed date on Appointment Letter to pick up original passport and visa.

By following the two ways of getting visa, it is much simpler to have the permission to get into the beautiful country for your next trip!

Vietnam e-visa for Singaporean

Vietnam e-visa for Singaporeans

Hi there. I have ever heard about Vietnam e-visa and I see it rather cheap and convenient. Please let us know whether I can apply for such kind of visa. I’m Singaporeans. Michelle.

Dear Michelle,

First of all, thank you so much for contacting us.

Applying for Vietnam visa on arrival

Singaporean and Cambodia to stay in Vietnam for 3 months

Hi there,

I’m wondering if you can help me. Me (Singaporean) and my partner (Cambodian) are coming to Vietnam in May.

I know that we can get 30 days of Vietnam visa exemption.

My question is: After arrival can we extend these visas to 3 months (or more)?

Thanks

Dear Rushton,

Please be kindly informed that you both can enter Vietnam with visa exemption and then get it extended in Vietnam. However, this choice is very expensive.

The best option for you in this case is to get a 3-month visa for you travel before your departure to Vietnam.

If you travel to Vietnam by air, you can apply for Vietnam visa on arrival for convenience.

Here is the link to apply: https://booking.vietnam-visa.com/step1.html.

We hope this information works well for  you.

What to do after Vietnam visa approval letter?

Hi there. I am going to Vietnam by air in this December for almost 2 months. It means that I can apply for a visa online. What I want to know here is: what I need to do after receiving the approval letter? Do I need to send it to the embassy for further acts? Please advise.

Dear Dacas,

Please be informed that with Vietnam visa on arrival, you have no work to do with the embassy as the visa on arrival and visa issued by the embassy has nothing linked to each other.

To obtain the visa approval letter, you only need to go online at https://booking.vietnam-visa.com/step1.html, complete the form, and then pay for service fee.

After receiving your information, we will work with the Vietnam Immigration Department to process the visa approval letter for you and send it to your email upon its issuance. Together with the letter, we also send your detailed guide to pick up full visa at Vietnam airport.

After receiving the letter, you only need to print it and the attached entry and exit form out, fill out the form, prepare 2 passport-sized photos and stamping fee (US $25 for a 3-month single entry visa). And when you arrive at your departure airport, you need to show your original passport and the letter to the airlines to get on board, and then show all the above things at the landing visa counter upon arrival at Vietnam airport to get visa stamped there.

This whole procedure is illustrated as in this picture:

3 options for Singaporeans to stay in Vietnam for more than 30 days

At the moment, it is not required to obtain Vietnam visa for Singaporeans for their stays in Vietnam of no more than 30 days provided that their passport is valid for at least 6 months since their arrival date.

What if they wish to stay in Vietnam for more than 30 days?

If this is the case, Singaporeans may have 3 options as follows:

  1. Enter Vietnam with visa exemption and get it extended in Vietnam.
  2. Enter Vietnam and stay there for 30 days, leave it and then come back.
  3. Apply for long-term Vietnam visa to enter Vietnam.

Which should be your choice?

Here, we will make a brief comparison between these options:

Vietnam visa Singapore fee instruction - Applying online Vietnam Visa1. Regarding cost

When getting into Vietnam with visa exemption, Singaporeans shall have to pay no fee. But, when getting visa exemption extended, it costs a rather big amount of money, around US $200 or even more.

When getting into Vietnam with visa exemption and then leaving the country when it expires and coming back, it costs around over US $150 for traveling forth and back.

When entering Vietnam with a long-term visa (for example 3-month single entry visa), the cost is much less, it is around US $59 with visa on arrival.

2. It takes long

In case you get Vietnam visa exemption extended, it may takes you up to 7 or 10 working days to complete. Leaving Vietnam and then coming back also takes you a few days. While, obtaining a visa for the whole trip will be much quicker.

3. It is difficult

The process to get Vietnam visa exemption extend is quite complicated. You will need to submit your original passport with the current visa for Vietnam and other documents to get your work done. The process to leave Vietnam and then come back also takes time to reserve your tickets, arrange your work, while the process to obtain a visa to Vietnam is quite simple.

So, what should be better for Vietnam visa for Singaporeans staying in the country for more than 30 days: entering Vietnam with visa exemption and then get visa extended in Vietnam, entering the country, and them leaving it and coming back or getting a visa for the whole trip.

Vietnam visa singapore - apply for Vietnam visa in Singapore

Vietnam visa for Singaporeans with unknown starting point in Vietnam

Hi. I’m Singaporean. I’m planning a trip to Vietnam in next June. However, I’ve not decided how to get into Vietnam yet. Please advise me how to obtain my Vietnam visa?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Thomas,

First of all, thank you for leaving us your message.

Regarding your question, we would like to answer as follows. As we are not sure about how long you will stay in Vietnam, we recommend you 2 cases as following:

1. Your stay in Vietnam is less than 30 days

In this case, you do not need a Vietnam visa at all.

2. Your stay in Vietnam is more than 30 days

In this case you need to obtain a visa. And you may have two ways to do so:

  1. Obtain the visa via the local Vietnam embassy; OR
  2. Obtain a Vietnam visa on arrival.

However, please keep in mind that while the former can be used by all Singaporeans to Vietnam by any means of transport, the latter is for those traveling to Vietnam by air only. You should apply for visa on arrival only in case you make sure that you are traveling to Vietnam by air, otherwise the former is highly recommended to avoid any unexpected issues.

Hopefully this information reaches you well.

Should you need any further information, feel free to let us know.

Vietnam visa singapore - apply for Vietnam visa in Singapore

Vietnam visa exemption for Singaporeans for 2 trips

Hi, I have 2 trips to Vietnam. The first one is from November 1 to November 24, 2016 and the second one is from December 5 to December 25. Both are less than 30 days in Vietnam per each. Do I need to apply Vietnam visa for any trip as I saw somewhere that for those of visa exemption, to get exempted, the arrival date of the following trip must be over 30 days from exit date of previous trip.

Please reply me. Thank you so much.

Shane.

Dear Shane,

Please be informed that the information you read applies to those getting Vietnam visa exemption under unilateral agreement with Vietnam only.

As the Singapore government have bilateral visa exemption with the Vietname Government, all Singaporeans are exempted from all trips to Vietnam provided that their stay in Vietnam is less than 30 days each.

In your case, you do not need to obtain visa for any of your trips.

Hopefully this information is clear to you.

Wish you all good things,
