Nha Trang To Open Beach For Night Swimming

It is good news for those living in and visiting Nha Trang that they will soon be able to swim in the ocean long after the sun goes down as the city has approved plans for its first night beach.

Nha Trang under sunset -

As reported, on Monday, local authorities gave TD JSC the green light to open part of the beach in front of Tran Phu Hotel to late night swimmers.

To address safety concerns, the company has agreed to install a lighting system and hire lifeguards to watch swimmers.

As reported, “the night swimming zone extends around 50m from the shore and lies within the area where the hotel is allowed to put its beach umbrellas and benches, according to the proposition”.

The scheme will launch on a trial basis later this month, after which authorities will review its effectiveness.

“The company wants to open the night swimming section only to increase the value added for the hotel, rather than blocking the beach for its own use,” said Bui Xuan Luong, an official from the Khanh Hoa Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, adding, “The night beach is admission-free and serves both locals and tourists.”

The night beach program represents a pleasant departure from stories about the privatization of the city’s beaches.

If you wish to experience exciting night swimming on sea, just visit Nha Trang. And in case a visa is required, you may get one in two options. Please access to for more information about how to get a visa to Vietnam.

Does a Singapore citizen need a visa to enter Vietnam?

I am Singapore citizen and carry Singapore passport valid to Nov.15/2015. Do I need a visa to enter Vietnam? (Marios, from Singapore)

Dear Marios,

Please be noted that as a Singapore passport holder, you don’t need to apply for Vietnam Visa for stay of maximum 30 days. In case you want to stay longer in Vietnam, you are highly recommended to apply for a Vietnam Visa in Singapore before your departure as it is currently very difficult to extend visa for those enjoying Vietnam visa exemption and visa extension will cost you much money. Except for a visa obtained at the Vietnam Embassy, you can apply for visa on arrival to get a visa stamped at Vietnam international airports.

For stay of 2 months, we would like to suggest you 3 month single entry visa by submitting a visa application form here:

Please don’t hesitate to contact us if you need any further assistance.

VAT refund at Phu Quoc airport -

VAT Refund for foreigners at Phu Quoc Airport

VAT refund at Phu Quoc airport - Vietnamvisa.sgAs announced by the Deputy Prime Minister Vu Van Ninh on behalf of the Prime Minister, foreigners and Vietnamese expatriates will receive value added tax (VAT) refunds for goods purchased in Vietnam when exiting the country through Phu Quoc International Airport in the Mekong Delta province of Kien Giang.

The Deputy Prime Minister also assigned the Ministry of Finance to work with relevant agencies to implement the provision.

Phu Quoc Island in Vietnam has become a favorite destination of not only domestic travelers but also international ones. Phu Quoc Airport began offering international routes in February 2014 with four weekly flights to Russia. Later, two routes linking Phu Quoc with Singapore and Cambodia’s Siem Reap became operational with two and three flights a week, respectively.

The airport VAT refund for foreigners and overseas Vietnamese is expected to boost Phu Quoc Island’s tourism development.

Ha Noi’s Noi Bai Airport and Ho Chi Minh City’s Tan Son Nhat Airport were the first to pilot the refunds in July 2012, officially providing VAT refunds in July 2014.

Also since July 2014, five other entry ports have started refunding VAT for foreigners and expatriates, namely Da Nang International Airport and Da Nang Port (Da Nang city), Cam Ranh International Airport and Nha Trang Port (Khanh Hoa province), and Khanh Hoi International Seaport (HCM City).
