Vietnam expects to welcome 100,000 Indian tourist arrivals

Based on the huge potential for development of bilateral ties between Vietnam and India in tourism, and also the direct flight routes connecting two cities of India and Ho Chi Minh City of Vietnam, it is expected that Vietnam will welcome the 100,000th Indian visitor to Vietnam in near future.

According to the Indian Ambassador to Vietnam, Ms. Preeti Saran, most of Indian travelers favor cultural and historical sites, especially those related to Buddhism and Hinduism. Therefore, the world cultural heritage site of My Son in central Quang Nam province and ancient pagodas are attractive destinations to Indian holiday-makers.

She also suggested the Vietnamese tourism sector strengthens the promotion of its cuisine among Indian tourists as Vietnam has a lot of fresh vegetables and fruits that meet the taste of Indians, particularly vegetarians.

At present 10,000 Indian tourists come to Vietnam every year due to the lack of information on Vietnamese tourism and a direct air route between the two countries. However, on November 5, India’s Jet Airways launched direct routes between New Delhi and Mumbai and Ho Chi Minh City. Vietnam Airlines and Vietjet Air also have plans to run direct flights to India’s localities. The opening of direct flights is expected to help foster the two countries’ tourism ties.

Indian citizens also may find it much easier to obtain a visa to Vietnam since they now have two ways to go about this matter:

  • Apply for a visa at Vietnam Embassy; OR
  • Apply for a visa on arrival (for its guide, please click here)

Unknown names on my visa approval letter

I received my approval letter, but I found names of some unknown people on the letter? Does it trouble me? I want a private one? Can I? Hana

Dear Hana,

Please don’t worry at all. There is no problem with that approval letter. You still get visa stamped at the airport with that letter. The other names in your visa approval letter are just names of those whose visa requests were processed at a time with yours by Vietnam Immigration Department.

We are very sorry for this inconvenience.

For the next application, if you want to have a private letter, please send us an email after submitting your application and we will send your request to the Immigration Department to process a private letter for you.

Have a nice day,

Hi there. I’m just curious about how many times I can apply for a Vietnamese visa. If I purchase a Single Entry visa and it expires and later on I would like to return to Vietnam, can I just purchase another Single Entry visa? I don’t want to buy a Multiple Entry visa to start in case I do not need it, unless it is not possible to buy multiple Single Entry visas. Jubel.

Phu Quoc Island in Vietnam - Vietnamvisa.sg

Phu Quoc island among top five destinations in winter

For a long time, peaceful Phu Quoc Island in Vietnam with another name of “Đảo Ngọc” meaning “Pearl Island” has become a favorite destination of both domestic and international travelers through the year. And if you are wondering where to go for this winter holiday, Phu Quoc Island is definitely a choice since it has been voted as one of the best five destinations in winter by the National Geographic website. As said by the site, there’s no reason to hibernate this winter when there are new beaches, slopes, sports, and festivals to discover.

Phu Quoc Island in Vietnam - Vietnamvisa.sg

Located in the Gulf of Thailand just off the Cambodian coast, the Phu Quoc Island houses some of the best beaches in Vietnam. The island once housed the so-called “coconut tree prison” (now a museum), where Vietcong prisoners of war were held through 1973. What’s bringing international travelers and, so far, restrained development to Phu Quoc today are its warm, turquoise waters; secluded, deep sand beaches; and lush, mountainous interior (protected as a national park).

When to Go: Phu Quoc Island is a destination of 12 months since each period in the island brings to it a different beauty. But for many travelers, the best time to visit this beautiful and peaceful island is the dry season in this island from December to March with average daytime temperatures between 77° and 82°F.

How to get there: The new (2012) Phu Quoc International Airport is located near the midpoint of the island’s western coast in Duong Dong, the largest town, so you can visit Phu Quoc by taking flight from Tan Son Nhat Airport (Saigon), Noi Bai Airport (Hanoi) or Danang Airport (Da Nang). In addition, if you are in Singapore or Russia, you can take a direct flight from there to Phu Quoc Island.

How to Get Around: You can take a taxi from the airport to your accommodation in Phu Quoc or just request the hotel to provide you an airport pick-up service. The most convenient way to travel around the island is by motorbike taxi or (with extreme caution) by motorbike.

Where to Stay: There will be a wide array of accommodations for you to choose in Phu Quoc.

Where to Eat: Pull up a plastic chair and sit under the stars at the bustling Dinh Cau Night Market to try whatever local fishermen hauled in that day (sea urchin, prawns, clams, squid, scallops, sardines). Held most evenings near Cau Temple in Duong Dong, the market has dozens of stalls and is a good place to shop for souvenirs (although most items aren’t produced locally).

Vietnam visa to travel to Phu Quoc Island: If you come to visit a destination in Vietnam before traveling to Phu Quoc Island, you may be required to have a valid visa to Vietnam. In this case, you may apply for a visa via any Vietnam Embassy/Consulate or apply for a visa on arrival. But if you travel directly from your country to Phu Quoc (including a transit in any Vietnam airport before taking next flight to Phu Quoc Island), you will be exempted from a Vietnam visa for up to 30 days.

Fun Fact: Phu Quoc is Vietnam’s nuoc mam (fish sauce) capital. The island’s signature (and powerfully pungent) sweet-sour Phu Quoc sauce is the essential Vietnamese condiment and, in 2013, became the country’s first product granted European Union Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) status.

Vietnam offers one of top 10 bike paths

According to the LonelyPlanet, a well-known travel website worldwide, there is no better way to explore a place than cycling. The website also announced the 10 trips that should be on the wish list of every cyclist, among which the National Route 1 of Vietnam is included.

Top 10 bike paths worldwide - Vietnamvisa.sg

This iconic route runs along the narrow northern countries to the South. It is the most popular cycling route in Vietnam, a long but extremely rewarding excursion along the best parts of the coast of the Viet Nam. The road has some reasonable hills, culminating in the mighty Hai Van Pass (496 m)-with a descent simply breathtaking, as the pine-covered mountains loom to the West and the South China Sea vanishes in the East. Take time along the way to contemplate the lush rice paddies networks coverage below; hidden valleys fish, snorkel or dive the turquoise waters of the coast; and soak up the atmosphere of the rural hamlets delicious.

Other routes in the list are Isle of Wight in England, West Coast in Tasmania of Australia, The Luberon and Mont Ventoux in Provence of France, Islands San Juan in Washington of United States, and so on.

Welcome you to enjoy Vietnam in this way.
